O presidente Lula voltou a cobrar, nesta terça-feira (24/8), solução para os tribos indígenas do estado do Mato Grosso do Sul. Após cerimônia de inauguração de campus da Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul, em Dourados (MS), o presidente se encontrou com lideranças indígenas que representam as etnias Guarani e Kaiowá que aguardam a demarcação de 36 territórios naquele estado. Lula lembrou que no dia 19 de abril, na reserva Raposa Serra do Sol, em Roraima, cobrou providências para resolver o problema.
LUla foi informado que decisão recente do presidente do Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), ministro Cezar Peluso, assegura a visita de técnicos da Fundação Nacional do Índio (Funai) às propriedades rurais em litígio sem que haja autorização prévia dos donos dos latifúndios. A coordenadora regional da Funai em Dourados (MS), Maria Aparecida de Oliveira, informou ao Blog do Planalto que a liminar concedida pelo STF irá agilizar o processo de verificação dos territórios e, deste modo, permitir a demarcação da área que encontra-se há décadas em conflito.
“O problema aqui na região é a guera jurídica. Com liminares, os fazendeiros impediam a entrada dos antropólogos na região. Isso atrasou muito o processo de verificação das propriedades”, contou Aparecida.
As lideranças indígenas aproveitaram a reunião e reivindicaram um instituto federal na comunidade. Segundo a coordenadora da Funai, os índios apostam nos cursos técnicos para adquirirem uma profissão mais qualificada e, deste modo, conquistarem maiores salários naquela região. O pedido foi encaminhado ao ministro da Educação, Fernando Haddad, que acompanha o presidente Lula na visita ao estado.
