O País da destruição e do desleixo acabou

Ao explicar o programa de recuperação do centro antigo de Salvador em evento realizado nesta quinta-feira (9/6) na Praça Thomé de Souza, em frente ao Elevador Lacerda, o presidente Lula disse com convicção: “o País da destruição acabou, o País do desleixo acabou, o País da irresponsabilidade acabou”. A reforma do centro histórico será feita, afirmou, sem que os moradores do local sejam retirados. Segundo o presidente, a restauração do Pelourinho -- um dos monumentos mais importantes de Salvador -- será realizada “respeitando os mais pobres” e não apenas para que o lugar sirva para abrigar “escritórios de pessoas ricas”.
Não queremos apenas colorir os prédios para tirar fotografia. Queremos respeitar a dignidade do povo pobre que mora no Pelourinho, em Salvador.

A recuperação do centro antigo da capital baiana vai receber R$ 627 milhões e faz parte do Programa de Aceleração do Crescimento (PAC) das Cidades Históricas. Antes da cerimônia no Praça Thomé de Souza, onde foi montada infraestrutura para receber a população, o presidente Lula visitou o Palácio Rio Branco, ao lado do Elevador Lacerda, totalmente recuperado dentro deste programa de obras dos monumentos históricos. O presidente ficou bastante impressionado com o trabalho desenvolvido pelos técnicos que resultou na restauração integral no prédio.
No discurso, Lula voltou a lembrar dos jovens ao informar que 176 mil jovens puderam conquistar uma profissão por meio do programa Próximo Passo, destinado a beneficiários do Bolsa Família, e sugeriu aos empresários e prefeitos que contratem esses formandos em suas obras.
O presidente conversou com os barraqueiros que reivindicam montar seus negócios na orla marítima da cidade. Com paciência, o presidente informou que conversou por telefone com a secretária do Patrimônio da União e obteve informação da impossibilidade de qualquer construção física na orla. Segundo ele, este impedimento é estabelecido pela Constituição federal. Assegurou, porém, que se reunirá na próxima semana para tentar uma solução para a questão.
Depois, o presidente falou sobre a assinatura do decreto de criação de unidades de conservação e parques nacionais na Bahia, lembrando do compromisso assumido pelo Brasil na Conferência Mundial sobre Mudança do Clima (COP-15), realizada em Copenhague (Dinamarca) no final do ano passado, de reduzir em até 80% do desmatamento na Amazônia, bem como a redução de emissão de gás que causa o efeito estufa.
No meio do discurso, mais reivindicação. Desta vez, um hospital de São Caetano que foi repassado ao governador Jaques Wagner. Lula afirmou que o pedido será encaminhado e, desde já, tem o apoio dele. Antes de deixar o local, o presidente se comprometeu a voltar a Salvador.
