O direito do cidadão com deficiência

O Brasil tem hoje cerca de 24,5 milhões de pessoas com deficiência e, para mostrar a importância de se garantir os direitos dessa parcela da população, o País comemora hoje o Dia Nacional de Luta da Pessoa com Deficiência. A data, instituída por lei em 2005, foi escolhida propositadamente no Dia da Árvore e no primeiro dia da primavera como uma representação do nascimento das reivindicações das pessoas com deficiência.
Para marcar esse momento de conscientização, prefeituras, câmaras, sindicatos, universidades, associações assinam hoje o termo de adesão à Campanha Nacional de Acessibilidade, coordenada pelo Conselho Nacional dos Direitos da Pessoa com Deficiência (Conade). O ministro da Secretaria Especial dos Direitos Humanos da Presidência da República, Paulo Vannuchi, participa da cerimônia em São Bernardo do Campo. Mais cedo, pela manhã, o governo do Rio de Janeiro também assinou o termo.
Nós conversamos por telefone com a presidente do Conade, Denise Granja, que está em São Bernardo do Campo (SP). De acordo com ela, o termo de adesão por parte de organismos como Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT) e Ministério Público de São Paulo é uma forma dessas instituições mostrarem compromisso com a campanha.

Em agosto deste ano, o Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego divulgou dados da Relação Anual de Informações Sociais (RAIS 2008). Segundo o relatório, 323 mil pessoas com deficiência estão incluídas no mercado de trabalho brasileiro. Os deficientes físicos representam 55,24% dos contratados, seguidos pelos deficientes auditivos (24,65%), visuais (3,86%), mentais (3,37% e os portadores de deficiências múltiplas (1,09%). A inclusão de pessoas com deficiência está prevista na Lei 8.231, criada para garantir uma oportunidade de emprego para trabalhadores neste perfil.
