Mercosul, América do Sul e geração de empregos

No programa Café com o Presidente desta segunda-feira (9/8), o presidente Lula fez uma breve análise das reuniões que teve ao longo da última semana com presidentes de outros países sulamericanos – seja na 39ª Cúpula do Mercosul, realizada em San Juan, na Argentina, ou em encontros bilaterais, e comentou também os mais recentes números da Relação Anual de Informações Sociais (Rais), que mostram que o Brasil gerou mais de 1,7 milhão de novos postos de trabalho em 2009 – ano da crise financeira mundial.
Sobre o Mercosul, Lula afirmou que foi “uma das melhores cúpulas de que eu participei em toda a história” do bloco econômico, aproveitando para comemorar o fim da Tarifa Externa Comum (TEC) no comércio entre os países-membros do grupo.
O fim dessa cobrança abriu espaço para consolidarmos a União Aduaneira, prevista desde 1994 no Protocolo de Ouro Preto. Um outro passo importante para implementarmos de vez a União Aduaneira foi a aprovação do Código Aduaneiro do Mercosul. Essas duas medidas vão ser muito importantes para melhorar o comércio na região. A Cúpula também aprovou o financiamento de nove projetos no valor de US$ 795 milhões, muito importantes para o desenvolvimento regional e que vão beneficiar sobretudo os dois países menores do Mercosul, que são Paraguai e Uruguai. Por isso, Luciano, nesses oito anos em que eu participo do Mercosul, essa foi a reunião mais produtiva, me dando a impressão de que, pela primeira vez, todos nós tivemos consciência da verdadeira importância do fortalecimento do Mercosul.
